A444 Atherstone Road- A42 to A5Casualty Reduction Scheme and Proposed Speed Limits along route.Latest Update March 2007Works are complete and the
speed limit is operational. Post scheme monitoring will now be undertaken.
Latest Update December 2006The speed limit is due to come into force on 15th January 2007. All
signing works should be completed prior to this date.
Latest Update October 2006No formal objections were received regarding the implementation of proposed speed
limit changes for the A444, therefore Leicestershire County Council will proceed with introducing the
speed limit orders. It is hoped that the changes will take place in early 2007.
Latest Update July 2006The consultation period has now ended and comments received are being considered.
Further news on the development of this scheme will follow shortly.
BackgroundFollowing an in depth accident study along this route a casualty reduction scheme
is now proposed. A phased programme to reduce casualties has been prepared. Speed is a significant factor
in most accidents and to address this, a proposed scheme has been designed to reduce vehicle speed along
this route.
The ProposalsThe plans of this scheme are in pdf format and show the route of the proposed scheme
on the A444, Atherstone Road from the A42 through all affected villages to the junction of the A5.
