What is a Local Land Charge?

A Local Land Charge (LLC) is a restriction or prohibition on one or more parcels of land that is binding on any successive owners or occupiers of that land.

What is the Local Land Charges Register?

The Local Land Charges registers are maintained by the District Councils in Leicestershire. For further information regarding how to access the Local Land Charges registers, please contact the relevant district or borough council.

What is a Local Authority Search?

A ‘Local Authority Search’ or ‘Local Search’ is made of two components:
  • A search of the Local Land Charges Register (LLC1)
    • Reveals any Local Land Charge registrations against the property requested.
    • Carried out by the relevant district or borough council
  • Enquiries of local authorities
    • Made up of a required component (CON29R) and an optional component (CON29O).
