Introduction
Leicestershire County Council is the highway authority for Leicestershire (excluding the City of Leicester). Information regarding highways forms a key part of the searches included within Home Information Packs and as such the county council is obliged to make the information available that is required for the Local Enquiries (CON29) component of the full search.
This information is required by the county’s District Councils and also by private companies producing personal searches in order to provide a comprehensive response to the CON29 enquiries.
We hope that you will find the information you require on our web site. If not, please feel free to contact the Local Searches team on 0116 305 8305 or at localsearches@leics.gov.uk.
Response to ICO Guidance issued on 16/07/2009
There will be no change to current practices, including our charges, pending the LGA/LLCI seeking counsel opinion on behalf of the sector.
Street Works Register – Important Note
There is a common misconception that the Street Works Register held under S.53 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) answers the CON29R enquiry 3.6 regarding traffic schemes.
While we do fulfil our statutory obligation to make the Street Works Register available for inspection, please be aware that the register does not provide sufficient information to answer all traffic scheme enquiries as listed in the CON29R (3.6), using this register for search purposes will seriously compromise the quality of any search compiled using this method.
For up to date information regarding road and traffic schemes, a Local Search Enquiry including these questions can be requested. Follow the links below for further information regarding the CON29 Local Search Enquiries and information regarding procedures and fees.
City of Leicester and Rutland County
The County Council is not the authority for the City of Leicester or Rutland. For any information within these areas, please contact Leicester City Council or Rutland County Council respectively.
Land Ownership
For any queries regarding land ownership, please contact the Land Registry – Leicester Office on 0116 265 4000.
