The Engineering Design Group can provide a structural design and management service to public and private sector clients.
Our services include
- Design and site supervision of new highway structures
The structures teams can offer structural design solutions for bridges, subways, culverts, footbridges and retaining walls on any scheme from major bypasses to minor improvements. - Design and site supervision of recycling and household waste sites
Substantial experience has been gained in the improvement of existing sites and the provision of new sites. Recent schemes have received prestigious awards for design and construction. - Management of highway structures
We carry out general and principal bridge inspections recording the condition of structures using the Bridge Condition Indicator method. From this, repair and maintenance schemes are developed to give the most cost effective solution to maximize the life of structures. All work is carried out in accordance with the Code of Practice for The Management of Highway Structures.

- Technical approval of highway structures
guidance is offered to achieve successful technical approval of structures to meet the requirements of BD2 and ensure that a structure is suitable for adoption by a local highway authority. - Bridge assessments
carried out to assess the condition and load carrying capacity of existing bridges to ensure that they can sustain current highway loading. - Abnormal loads
checks can be carried out to ensure that a bridge can carry specific abnormal loads. - Canal restoration
substantial experience has been gained in the ongoing restoration of the Ashby Canal. The service can offer design and site supervision of new structures and canal infrastructure.
