Up Time Availability - Percentage of time that the website has been available to view on the Internet.
Leicestershire County Council aims to ensure that this website is available 97.5% of the time.
The website is checked and the responses are recorded about 1,500 times a month. Currently checks on our website are carried out every 15 minutes and if it does not respond in 15 seconds this is classed as an error, at this time a second check is carried out and if this check also shows an error the check is concluded as 'verified' and this is reported as downtime. Any amount less than 100% indicates that the website had some downtime.
In April 2009 we changed the way in which we report on the up time availability statistics and this has been changed retrospectively to show accurate results.

Online Survey of Website Usage

We conduct an online survey of website usage. This is used to gauge our service, collect demographic information and other information that we may find useful to help us improve the service provided by the website.
Results of the survey from January 2010 to February 2010:
  • 79% of visitors found what they were looking for (completely or partly)
  • 88% of visitors are satisfied with the general look and feel of the website
  • 85% of visitors are satisfied with the ease of getting around the site
  • 81% of visitors are satisfied with the ease of finding specific information
  • 80% of visitors who used the site search were satisfied with it
  • 82% of visitors are satisfied with the value of the information
  • 73% of visitors state they are likely to return to the website in the future
  • 85% of visitors are satisfied overall with their visit
The survey is offered to 1 in 5 browsers of the website. The survey method deposits a cookie on visitors' computers. The cookie is used to count the total number of unique visitors who are accessing the website over a particular period of time and to identify web visitors who have already been offered the survey so that they are not prompted to participate a second time within any three month period.
We use the results of this survey and feedback from our website to make improvements to benefit all users.  Some of the most recent changes we have made include:
This survey is optional and we may share non-personal, aggregated information with third parties. For more information you may refer to the Leicestershire County Council Privacy Statement. The survey is provided by SOCITM (Society of Information Technology Management) and ROL (Rutland On Line).
