Greener Transport
The effects of transport on the environment are significant at a local, regional and global scale.
Transport has become a major source of air pollution. In 2004, transport was responsible for 27% of UK carbon dioxide emissions making a significant contribution to Climate Change.
In Leicestershire, the Leicestershire Local Transport Plan 2006-2011 is the key document setting out policy for transport in the County with objectives including tackling congestion, improving air quality, reducing road casualties and investment in programmes to increase provisions for cycling, walking and public transport.
