The Big Switch Off 2009 CompetitionsAs part of The Big Switch Off 2009, a number of competitions took place to encourage residents, schools, colleges, community and faith groups to take part in the energy saving campaign.
Primary and Secondary SchoolsSchools were asked design certificates for schools, businesses and organisations taking part in the Big Switch Off 2009. There were three age categories whose winning designs would be used for specific groups:-

The winning pupils were:- KS1 - Jack Harvey, aged 7 from Ryhall Primary School, Rutland; KS2 - Millie Walker, aged 10 from Oakham Primary School, Rutland; KS3 - Amy Fairbrother, aged 11 from King Edward VII School, Melton Mowbrary, Leicestershire.
There was also an Energy Dectectives Competition to find out which school saved the most energy during Big Switch Off week compared to the week before and a schools page on this website to support schools.
