Sustainability Appraisal

As a result of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the existing Minerals Local Plan and Waste Local Plan is to be replaced by a Minerals Development Framework (MDF) and Waste Development Framework (WDF).  
By law, the MDF and WDF must undergo a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) and a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).  These two tests will check the impact of the MDF and WDF economically, environmentally, and socially with the aim of causing as little harm as possible.
