East Midlands Airport
East Midlands Airport (EMA) operates from Leicestershire and its activities affect the people of Leicestershire and beyond. Whilst the County Council recognises that the airport brings economic benefits to the area, it is concerned about the environmental impact of the airport on Leicestershire residents, particularly in relation to noise from night-time flights.
We have been active in trying to seek better controls over airport activities and their impact on people who live and work in the area or who are affected by flights to and from the airport.
The airport's Master Plan was published in December 2006. This sets out how the airport will develop over the next 25 years. A monitoring report on the Master Plan is to be published by EMA every two years. The first was published in July 2009 and a further report is expected in 2011.
