Addressing environmental issues as a business has a number of advantages including financial savings in terms of reduced costs for energy, water and waste disposal, raising the profile of your business and can open doors for new opportunities as increasingly companies with an environmental management system in place such as ISO 14001 or EMAS only work with suppliers who address environmental issues.

Free guidance to small and medium sized businesses on complying with environmental legislation and how it can affect your business. Provides advice based on sector type, environmental issues and environmental legislation.

Envirowise provide free, confidential advice to businesses across the UK and can be contacted at the national and regional offices. The website includes information on legislation, waste minimisation, environmental management systems and lots of useful downloadable publications with advice for specific sectors with good practise guides, newsletters, benchmarking guides and tools. Works with a number of different sectors to provide practical advice on improving resource efficiency delivered through a regional programme. Business Link runs an energy efficiency network with free bi-monthly training seminars and advice and support from other businesses who have already tackled this issue. Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire provide a support programme for businesses. Members receive advice on environmental management systems, support for carrying out environmental reviews such as energy and waste audits, business and legislation guidance notes, hotline enquiry number and access to training on environmental awareness and ISO 14001 or BS 8555 (two accredited Environmental Management Systems).
