Eco Schools

Biodiversity

School grounds can increase the amount of land suitable for wildlife and provide students with experience of studying species, habitats and biodiversity.
School grounds can become habitats for wildlife by introducing insect and butterfly attracting plants, putting up bird and bat boxes, planting trees and putting in a wildlife pond.
Links can be made into the national curriculum for maths, English and science.
Advice
Leicestershire County Council can offer schools advice on improving their grounds for wildlife, information on suitable grants and help to carry out the work.
