Get on yer bike and explore Leicestershire. There are many quiet and attractive places to go with family or friends, as well as routes for everyday journeys particularly in towns or in and around the city of Leicester.






FREE Cycling Maps now available
A set of six cycle maps covering the whole of Leicestershire (city and county) are now available. the maps feature recommended routes, cycle parking, refreshment stops, bike shops and good cycling tips.
Printed copies are available from libraries and tourist information centres.
No. 1 - Leicester City covers all of Central Leicestershire (on City Council website)
No. 2 - Loughborough Area
No. 3 - Melton Mowbray Area
No. 5 - Hinckley & Bosworth Area
No. 6 - Coalville Area and the National Forest covers all NW Leicestershire District
Blaby District is covered by the Leicester City and Hinckley & Bosworth cycling maps.
Oadby & Wigston Borough is included on the Leicester City cycling map.

Route 1 - Green (pdf) is the new signposted off-road walking and cycling route out of Leicester to Syston and Cossington. It builds upon the Connect2 Project which has improved links through Watermead Country Park. Route 1 links Leicester City Centre, the visitor attractions alongside the River Soar, Mowmacre Hill and Rushey Mead, as well as Birstall and Thurmaston which also have a link between them across the Watermead Country Park.

Enjoy whichever journeys you go on but don't forget to take appropriate clothing, pleanty of drinking water, and although it is not compulsory, wearing a cycle helmet is always a good idea.
