New Coalville cycle network

Coalville Area and the National Forest

The town of Coalville lies in North West Leicestershire. The town's name gives a clue to its mining heritage and is today home to Snibston, a fascinating interactive museum and country park on the site of a former colliery.
Snibston’s many cycle paths also link to National Cycle Route 52 and Coalville’s excellent cycling network, which connects the town centre with Stephenson College, the Community Hospital and outlying villages.
The leaflet includes two maps showing cycle routes:
  • Coalville Urban - covering in detail Coalville town, including Agar Nook, Greenhill, Hugglescote, Donington le Heath, Whitwick, Ravenstone and Swannington.
  • Coalville Rural - covering in overview all of North West Leicestershire district and the central part of the National Forest. For the eastern end of the National Forest see the Loughborough Rural map (Pdf 1.3mb)
The urban map shows traffic calmed areas and key local facilities. Both the urban and rural maps maps highlight recommended routes, local sections of the National Cycle Network, leisure routes, and main tourist attractions.
The leaflets also include details of local bike shops, a guide to signs for cyclists and good cycling tips.
For more information on places to visit in the Coalville Area and whats on in Leicestershire please see Leisure & Tourism.
