Cyclists dismount to cross Birstall Lock Bridge during the Leicester Skyride event. Work on transforming the bridge is due to start in mid September.

Cyclists try out some of the widened and resurfaced paths in Watermead (completed as part of the Connect2 project) during the Skyride event on Sunday 30th August.

The bridge was officially opened on 9th July. Children from Eastfield school in Thurmaston helped Councillors Ernie White and Lesley Pendleton cut the ribbon, and afterwards were treated to a guided walk on some of the new paths by Park Ranger Dale.

The new bridge at Thurmaston Lock is craned into place by barge.

Construction work continues on the new bridge. Picture 3 shows the decking of the bridge which is designed to be non-slip and lets water through.
