New Lount Nature Reserve

Small Tortoishell butterflies (Aglais urticae) can be seen at Coleorton WoodA 19.5-hectare mixed reserve of species-rich grassland, ponds, plantation woodland and scrub within the The National Forest. It is on the site of the former New Lount colliery.


Location and Car Parking

  • Melbourne Road, Newbold Coleorton, LE67 8JH. Approximately 3¾ miles north-east of Ashby de la Zouch, along A512, left onto B5324 then ½ mile, left onto Gelsmoor Road towards Newbold, and left onto Melbourne Road. Five miles north-west of Coalville.
