The Rangers work on a rota to ensure the Parks are looked after 24hours a day, 365 days a year.  Their work is varied, demanding a high level of dedication, skill and knowledge of wildlife and visitor management.

Conservation Management and Park Maintenance

The upkeep of parks is the Ranger's main task
  • Day-to-day maintence including: mowing, strimming, litter picking, emptying bins
  • Scheduled and unscheduled repairs, including: signage, picnic tables, benches, gateways, fencing
  • Livestock Husbandry
  • Habitat maintenance (varies depending on the season), includes: cutting reedbed, cutting wildflower meadows, tree felling, ditch clearance.
  • Wildlife monitoring, including surveys of; birds, butterflies, dragonflies, amphibians, vegetation, moths and bats

Events and Activities

Country Parks Willow Weaving Event
  • Lead a programme of guided walks, family activities and adult craft workshops, for details see the Country Parks Events page, or for countywide events see What’s On.
  • Volunteer tasks - when you can come along and get involved in practical conservation work.  There are many aspects such as: hay cutting, ragwort pulling, scrub bashing, reed bed cutting, and pond clearance
  • Being on-site and available to the general public to answer queries and give information about the parks.
