Regional Spatial Strategy

The Regional Spatial Strategy for the East Midlands (RSS8) was published in March 2005.  The Regional Spatial Strategy forms part of the development plan and sets out a broad development strategy for the East Midlands, which LDF's must conform to.
Minerals - RSS8  covers priorities for non-energy minerals and includes sub regional apportionments for aggregates for the period 2001-2016.  The East Midlands Regional Aggregates Working Party (EMRAWP) provides information and advice to government on the supply and demand for both primary aggregates and alternative materilas.  the EMRAWP also monitors sales of aggregates at a sub regional level and has facilitied sub regional apportionment of the production guidelines in MPG6.
Waste - RSS8 provides minimum targets for the recyling and composting of municpal solid waste.  There is also a Regional Waste Strategy which was issued in January 2006 which identified apportionments of the waste management capacity required for the three main waste streams sub regionally for the period until 2020.
