Further Consultation on Preferred OptionsThis further consultation at the Preferred Options stage of the documents' production
was undertaken to address the deficiencies identified by GOEM (Government Office for the East Midlands)
at the Preferred Options consultation held in August-October 2006. GOEM were
critical of the Core Strategy and advised that the document may be unsound because of what it regarded
as a lack of a spatial strategy and the need to have explored and consulted on alternative spatial strategies.
The identification of these deficiencies is a consequence of emerging clarification and advice
associated on with the new development plan system.
In order to address concerns about the Core Strategies raised through the consultation
the Council has produced two further documents; a Waste Spatial Strategy and a Minerals Spatial Strategy.
It is on these two documents that the council is inviting comments. These documents
do not identify individual sites and there is no need to repeat representations previously made on the
Preferred Options documents. Details on the next stages of consultation and document
production.
Responses may be made by sending an email to: planningcontrol@leics.gov.uk,
or by letter addressed to the Director of Community Services, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3
8TE.
CabinetPrior to any documents going out for consultation the two documents went before
the County Council's Cabinet for approval. The Waste and Minerals Development Frameworks were
considered and approved by Cabinet on 11th September 2007. The agenda and minutes of the Cabinet
meeting can be found via the link below.
AdvertisementThe County Council placed an advert in the local papers on the week ending 19th
