![]() Working in Leicestershire Schools & CollegesRecruitment InformationReturning to TeachingWe appreciate that returning to teaching in a period of rapid educational change can seem quite daunting. The recent teacher shortages have given schools a lot of experience of supporting colleagues who want to return to teaching, whether in permanent, temporary or supply teacher positions. You are likely to find that any school to which you are appointed will provide an induction programme to help you become familiar with school organisation, current classroom practice and the requirements of the curriculum. A senior member of staff will usually take responsibility for your induction and other colleagues will give you advice with planning and whatever day to day help you might need.
Returning to Teaching coursesReturn to Teaching courses are held nationally, funded by the Training and Development Agency (TDA). Information on these can be obtained through http://www.tda.gov.uk/return
Useful reading are the five booklets that the DfES have developed for supply teachers covering the following topics:
The booklets are FREE and can be obtained by ringing 0845 602 2260 and quoting DfES/260/2002.
