Improving Writing Staff Meeting 1 (85 kb zip) |
The first of two staff meetings that have been developed to support schools in improving writing. In the folder is a Power Point which can be used at a staff meeting and some handouts which support teachers in carrying out an audit with a specific focus on writing. |

A useful leaflet packed with ideas and checklist for pupils to consider when revising and redrafting their written work. |

RIT Cards (243 kb Word doc) |
These 'Read it Through' cards have been developed as a resource for pupils to use as a self assessment tool. Each card links to a text type or narrative style. They can be used to remind pupils before writing, as a check during writing and as a final assessment of whether key features have been included. There are sets of cards for early writers and developing writers. |

These posters are a useful resource for teachers, particularly in upper key stage two. Although they have been categorised into different genre and text types there will be some overlap so you may want to use them flexibly. |

Year 6 Writing Cards (168 kb Word doc) |
These cards have been adapted from ‘Taking an interest in your child’s learning’. They are intended for parents and carers of children in year 6. |

Writing Leaflets (1,642 kb zip) |
These leaflets have been developed by Associate Teachers to support parents in helping children with their writing. There are two versions of the KS1 leaflet for you to choose from. One has empty picture boxes for you to insert illustrations of your choice. The second is illustrated with cartoons by local artist, Robert Carter. The KS2 leaflet is ready to download, complete with illustrations. The leaflets are for schools to use as they wish. They could be given out to parents on request or at parents’ evenings or curriculum events. |
