Special Educational Needs - Support for Parents

Dear Parent

Welcome to this guide about special needs support in Leicestershire Schools.
In Leicestershire we provide a range of support for pupils with special educational needs both in mainstream and special schools.  We believe that children should, wherever possible attend their local school, and this guide outlines the ways in which you and the school can work together to help your child.
We see parents as very important partners who should be involved in planning and decision making about their child's education.  We also believe strongly in young people's involvement in their education.
I hope this booklet helps you to work successfully with your child's school.  Please let us know if we can improve it in any way.
