Delegation of Resources for Special Educational Needs to Mainstream Schools

School Funding for Additional Needs

Schools receive a number of funding streams to support children with special needs. These are drawn together and called the Notional Budget SEN. It includes:
  • 4% of Age-weighted Pupil Unit Funding
  • £7.30 (07-08) per pupil SENCO release time
  • Amount delegated for statemented pupils
In addition to this, some schools receive additional funding for unit provision. Secondary schools also receive additional Social Inclusion Funding.
Figures for these budgets are circulated annually to schools and governors to help schools monitor provision. More details are available here (Powerpoint presentation, 175kb)
