Delegation of Resources for Special Educational Needs to Mainstream Schools

A group of headteachers and officers has met regularly since 2002 to oversee the transition from historic funding (based on SEN statements) to formula funding. 2007/08 was the first year of full formula funding. Until then, a gradually declining proportion of SEN funding was based on the actual costs of statemented children in each school.
