Nearly 400 staff work in a range of services including the Specialist Teaching Service, Student Support Service, SEN Assessment Service, Educational Psychology Service and Access and Welfare Service. The presentation used to introduce the review to service managers is available here:

The review will consider how to promote local area working, and align support services more closely with the area special school programme:

Departmental Management Team considered work in progress on detailed proposals for consultation at its meeting on 23rd May, 2006. There was an agreement that the necessary consultations could not be completed by June 23rd and that Cabinet approval for an extension into the Autumn term should be sought. A letter to all staff about this was sent on 26th May. (Word doc 41kb)
A broadening of the review to encompass a multi-agency perspective was approved by Cabinet on 3rd October, 2006. A new title was agreed: Access to Targeted Services for Children and Young People with Additional Needs.
