Working in Leicestershire Schools & Colleges
Returning to Teaching
Returning to teaching in a period of rapid educational change can seem quite daunting. Schools have a lot of experience of supporting colleagues who want to return to teaching, whether in permanent, temporary or supply teacher positions. You are likely to find that any school to which you are appointed will provide an induction programme to help you become familiar with school organisation, current classroom practice and the requirements of the curriculum. A senior member of staff will usually take responsibility for your induction and other colleagues will give you advice with planning and whatever day to day help you might need.
Support for Returning to Teaching
The Training and Development Agency for schools (TDA) provides advice and support for teachers who are returning, or considering returning, to the profession. Please visit www.tda.gov.uk/teacher/returning-to-teaching for information.
