Belvoir High School is outstanding!

Mr Parsons, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, joins children from Belvoir High School to celebrate success

Ofsted inspectors have judged Belvoir High School in Bottesford to be ‘outstanding’.
In a glowing report, inspectors say pupils show great enjoyment and commitment in lessons, working hard and collaborating well. The report states that pupils’ personal development is outstanding and that their behaviour is exemplary in lessons and around the school.
Teaching standards, leadership and management, the curriculum and the school’s capacity to improve even further were all recognised as outstanding.
The report states that pupils’ attendance is well above average and that they reach exceptionally high standards in core subjects, especially science, and in other subjects.
The wide range of extra-curriculum activities and impressive programme of trips and events organised by the school was praised by inspectors too.
Inspectors also highlighted the responses they had from parents about the school as being worthy of special note. Parents praised the high quality of education provided, the dedicated and excellent leadership and that the school cares about its pupils on a personal basis.
The Ofsted report builds on the school’s success earlier this year when it was ranked as one of the top three in the country for the progress made by pupils between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
Belvoir High School is one of the partner schools in the pioneering £45 million reorganisation of education in Melton Mowbray and the Vale of Belvoir. This aims to raise standards of attainment and achievement by pupils even further, building on current school excellence. From the autumn term, 2008 Belvoir High will change from a school for ages 11-14 to a school for 11-16 year olds.
Jon Sherwin, Headteacher at Belvoir High School, said: “We are delighted to have achieved an outstanding Ofsted report. It is a credit to the entire school community – pupils, parents, staff, governors and our partners.”
Malcolm Goff, Chair of Governors, said: “This is fantastic news and yet more well deserved success for Belvoir High. The school is performing extremely well and continues to go from strength to strength.”
Ivan Ould, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet Lead Member for the Children and Young People’s Service, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone at Belvoir High on their tremendous achievement. This is further evidence of the excellent standard of education provided in the County’s schools.”
