Family Information ServiceLeicestershire County Council has launched an extended helpline for families across the county. The new Family Information Service provides advice, guidance and information to parents of 0 – 19 year olds. The previous Children’s Information Service supported families for over nine years, and provided childcare information. The revamped Family Information Service now advises on all types of subjects – from healthy eating through to leisure activities. Staffed by a team of information specialists, this new helpline is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for parents in Leicestershire.
Its manager, Jackie Cockcroft explains: “We aim to provide parents with reliable, comprehensive information throughout their entire family cycle – from birth to childcare, school choices to careers advice. We work closely with our partners such as health visitors, Children’s Centres and Connexions to ensure that parents have access to everything they need.” Make a note of the number so that you know where to turn when parents ask for advice.
