School Admission & Exclusion Appeals
|
School Admission and Exclusion AppealsThe County Council is required by Section 94 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 to make arrangements enabling the parent of a child to appeal against any decision made on behalf of the Authority about the school that has been allocated.
The appeals are administered by the County Solicitor on behalf of the Local Authority and the Panels who consider the appeals are independent to both the County Council and to the Children and Young People's Service who allocate school places.
In addition, the County Solicitor makes the arrangements for appeals against a decision to permanently exclude a child from school. These arrangements are made pursuant to Section 52 of the Education Act 2002 and associated Regulations.
In both admission and exclusion appeals, the Panel's decision is binding on all parties.
