Leicestershire Youth Service
Young Persons' Charter
Our rights
We can expect that...
Our responsibilities are...
Good relationships with staff
Our youth workers should be friendly, fun and easy to talk to. But they will also challenge behaviour that may upset or offend others.
Treating each other, and youth workers, with respect.
Good advice
Our youth workers will do their best to give us reliable and confidential help, information and advice.
Encouraging each other to act in mature and responsible ways.
Equal opportunities
Our youth workers will treat us all equally, with respect and honesty, whatever our age, gender, sexuality, race religion, culture and ability.
Supporting equal opportunities for all people whatever their age, gender, sexuality, race, religion, culture or ability.
To have our say
We can have our say on what happens in our centres and projects, and in decisions which affects our lives. Our suggestions, ideas and complaints will be taken seriously and treated with respect
Sticking to the guidelines and rules we have agreed at our centre or project.
Friendly spaces
Centres and projects will be safe, adequate spaces that are welcoming and friendly. As far as possible they will be opened at times that best suit the groups using them.
Welcoming other young people to our centre or project.
Activities
Social and educational activities will be planned around our needs. They will be both fun and challenging.
Doing the things we have agreed.
Detached and outreach work
Where possible, those of us who don't use clubs/centres should have local access to youth workers in other places, such as on the streets.
Showing consideration for other members of the public.
This charter was jointly created by young people and youth work staff. Ideas, questions or comments should be addressed to the Princial Youth Officer on 0116 305 6352.
