The Skills Section
Aim: To inspire young people to develop practical and social skills and personal interests
The Skills Section provides endless opportunities to develop a new skill or improve an existing skill. The key is to show progression and sustained interest over time.Ideally you should spend about an hour a week on your chosen skill. All activities should take part in your own free time, not during school, college or work hours. After-school clubs or activities taking place at lunchtime may, however, be counted. Examples of activities can range from playing a musical instrument, learning how to juggle, attending a drama club, learning to drive, etc. For a full list of activities please visit http://www.dofe.org or contact Kellie Ross (kellie.ross@leics.gov.uk) at County Hall. If you unsure about a certain activity, whether it's ok to do or simply which section it belongs in please contact kellie.ross@leics.gov.uk at Beaumanor Hall who will advise you.

Instruction and Assessment of your chosen activity should be undertaken by someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in that activity. It is also helpful if you keep a note of each time you take part in your chosen activity.
Once you have completed the minimum timescales, yourself and your assessor should have a final review of your progress. You will be assessed on your personal effort, perseverance and achievement.
