The Volunteering Section

Aim: To inspire young people to make a difference within their communities or to an individual's life and develop compassion by giving service to others

Volunteering is simple. It's about choosing to give time to do something useful, without getting paid. It can be:
  • Working with people in the community (playschemes, youth work).
  • Environmental Service (Conservation, care of animals)
  • Fundraising (for various charities)
  • Rescue Service (Lifesaving etc)
  • Sports Coaching
Further examples of activities which can be undertaken can be found on http://www.dofe.org

This section of the DofE is based on the belief that members of a community have a responsibility to each other and voluntary help is needed.
It is hoped that you will benefit from this section by having the opportunity to take positive action in your local community. You will have the opportunity to increase your own self-esteem, accept responsibility and meet people with whom you would not normally come into contact.
