(The Duke of Rutland). Situated in the heart of the Peak district. The finest surviving example of a medieval manor house. The superb 14th and 15th century interiors and beautiful rose garden are the former home of Dorothy Vernon.

Lincoln Cathedral is one of the finest medieval buildings in Europe. It dominates the skyline for many miles and visitors are urged not to miss Saint Hugh’s Choir, the Angel Choir, the fine Bishop’s Eye window and the Chapter House.
Open - 7.15am to 8.00pm in summer and until 6pm in wintertime. Last entry for groups is 4.00pm.

William the Conqueror’s Castle in Lincoln dates from 1068. Explore the 900 year old wall walks, towers and beautiful grounds. Inside see one of the four surviving Magna Carta sealed by King John in 1215. The Victorian prison still stands in the castle grounds.

The Guildhall

The Guildhall is situated above the Stonebow, the site of the southern gateway to the Roman town. It is the "official home" of the Mayor and houses the Civic Insignia Room in the old debtor’s prison. The present building was completed in 1520.
