Youth Dance

Leicester and Leicestershire Arts in Education has a long tradition of excellent Dance provision for young people in Ballet, Contemporary and Indian Dance styles.  In all these styles the service offers: -
  • Outstanding performance opportunities at major performance venues including the De Montfort Hall & Haymarket Theatre
  • High quality, regular dance training classes
  • Tuition by experienced, qualified, registered staff
  • Excellent studio training facilities
Beginners to advanced students are all welcome and we try to offer a dance experience for any dance student who would like to learn. Some classes are open access but some more specialist styles are by selection.
Classes usually take place out of school hours at Knighton Fields Centre, Leicester but for our youngest students there are some county area centres. Entry to Dance Activate, Ballet Scheme / Youth Ballet classes is by selection. Entry to all Contemporary Dance classes is open access.
Selection simply means being asked to take part in a group class. The teacher will have the opportunity to find out whether the class will be right for the student and most importantly, for the student to find out whether the particular style of dance will be one that they enjoy. If you are interested in finding out more about each style please click on the appropriate link above.
Arts Award is a national scheme and accredits achievements for young people aged 11-25. Anyone joining a youth dance group could join the scheme.
