Early Years Professionals

Leicestershire is making good progress in increasing the number of graduate Early Years Professionals (EYP) leading practice in Leicestershire settings.
As well as full daycare, childminders and sessional pre-schools are gaining EYP status. If you would like to find out more about the role of an EYP, please visit the links below.

The East Midlands EYPS Network (http://www.northampton.ac.uk/eyps) working with University of Northampton as lead provider, with training bases in the following locations:
  • Northampton – The University of Northampton, Park Campus
  • Leicester – South Leicester College
  • Nottingham – Nottingham Trent University / New College Nottingham ·
  • Lincoln – Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln
The Early Years Professional Northern Alliance (http://www.ioe.mmu.ac.uk/business/eyp/) working with  Manchester Metropolitan University as lead provider, with training bases in the following locations:
  • Lancaster University, Bradford College
  • Derby University
  • Huddersfield University
  • Liverpool Hope University
  • University of Chester
  • University of Cumbria
  • Sheffield Hallam University
  • University of Northumbria
  • Teeside University
  • University of Sunderland
Pathways to Early Years Professional Status - to be updated shortly
In order to gain the full EYP status, candidates will have to prove (show certificates) that they have English and Maths GCSE graded A*-C: an adult learning level 2 English/Maths will not be accepted by the Universities.
