Moving towards the Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has been statutory since September 2008. It brings together principles from Birth to Three Matters and the Foundation Stage Curriculum together with elements of the National Standards for Under 8s Day Care and Childminding.
Everyone who works with children from birth to five will need to know about the requirements of the EYFS.

The EYFS audit of Existing Provision
This audit is designed to help you identify gaps in current provisions. Each section corresponds to one of the EYFS Principles in to Practice cards and includes the same cross references to the Key Elements of Effective Practice (KEEP) and the Every Child Matters (ECM) five outcomes.
The EYFS audit of existing training and development (Word doc, 430 kb).
To assist you with implementing the EYFS an audit document has been made available. The audit allows you to build up your existing good practice, and prioritises areas to develop. We strongly recommend that you take the time to complete the audit and use the appropriate commitment card to reflect and support your practice.
