Extended Services in Leicestershire
Children's Centres and Extended Schools
|
Welcome to the Leicestershire Extended Services pages. This overview gives you an insight into the exciting developments which are happening across the County. Following wide consultation with key partners, particularly District Councils, health services, the voluntary sector and schools, a locally-based extended services infrastructure has been developed which will enable the appropriate services and activities to be matched to the needs of the local community. This will ensure that local services and professional networks work together to meet the range of children and young people’s needs. These include targeted youth support, drugs and alcohol forums, sports partnerships etc.

Leicestershire’s Strategy and approach is: - Being delivered through partners working together at a local level, particularly through the seven Districts and Boroughs, with each area having their own resources to provide services that reflect locally determined needs and priorities
- Not a building based programme but sees early years settings, Children’s Centres and Extended Schools as part of a network of facilities from which support to pre-school and school-aged children and families is provided
- Linked to Leicestershire’s 'Windscreen of Need' Integrated Working Overview (PDF, 250kb). Within this context the Extended Services Strategy focuses on supporting children and families with Level 1 (Universal) and Level 2 (Targeted) needs.
