Why did we ask you?
The local authority has a duty to assess childcare in Leicestershire to ensure that there is enough local childcare to meet the needs of parents/carers.

We asked parents/carers views on how they currently use childcare, including satisfaction with quality, location and cost - and what they felt could be improved.

- over all satisfaction with childcare is high ( 95%) but affordability of childcare is more of an issue relative to quality location or opening hours.
- parents/carers indicated that there was a need for more childcare out of school term time and before 8am and after 6pm.
- one in ten parents/carer who were eligible for Nursery Education funding were not aware that they were entitled to claim.
- parent/carers of children with a Statement of Educational Needs or disability are less likely than other parents/carers to use formal childcare
