Campaigns 2008
Alcohol: No Excuse! - Alcohol: No Escape?
Fifty thousand beer mats are being handed out to pubs, bars and clubs across
Leicestershire, in conjunction with August Bank holiday, to raise awareness of alcohol and domestic
violence.
Alcohol: No Excuse!
Alcohol is frequently used as an excuse by perpetrators of domestic violence. This campaign is urging people to think about their behaviour and to stop using alcohol as an excuse for being physically or verbally abusive.Alcohol: No Escape?
From the other perspective, many victims of domestic violence develop coping mechanisms such as alcohol misuse as a way of escaping the reality of their daily life. For those living with the constant fear of the next attack and who experience the isolation or the low self esteem that domestic violence can bring, alcohol may seem like a simple way out. This campaign urges both victims and perpetrators to come forward and seek help.
