Guidance for Marriages...
Leicestershire can offer six different Ceremony Rooms, all decorated to a high standard, with disabled access. You are welcome to make an appointment with us to view the rooms you are most interested in, prior to making a booking.
After deciding which Ceremony Room you would like your special ceremony in, you can call us up to two years in advance to make a provisional booking. Once you have Given Notice of your intended wedding you will be given formal confirmation of your booking. This will include all of the final details you will want to know about your ceremony, including copies of the vows you will say to each other.
Marriage Act 1994
The Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005
As soon as a couple have made provisional arrangements for their marriage at the Approved Premises of their choice in Leicestershire, they should immediately contact the County Superintendent Registrar for the Leicestershire Registration District.
Without the presence of the Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar at your ceremony, there can be no marriage, and any arrangements for the use of the premises depend entirely on the Registrars availability. It is, therefore, essential that the couple make an advance booking with the County Superintendent Registrar to ensure that Registrars are available to attend the wedding. A fee for this attendance will be payable before the ceremony. You may make a provisional booking up to two years before the date of your ceremony.
The couple should be warned that any arrangements made for a marriage to take place on the approved premises are dependent on:
a) the attendance of the Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar for the district in which the premises are situated; and,
b) the issue of the Certificates for Marriage by the Superintendent Registrar(s) to whom notice of marriage was given.
Once you have both Given Notice of your intended marriage, you will be sent formal confirmation of your booking. This will include details of the day, the opportunity to personalise your ceremony, and some suggestions with planning. We will invite you to make an appointment with the Registration Office local to the Venue you have chosen at least a month before the date of your ceremony. You will be able to discuss and agree the content of your ceremony, including any additional music, personal vows, readings or other personal enhancements that you would like to include. You will also be asked to pay for the attendance of the Registration Staff at your wedding when you attend this meeting.
The couple should be advised that only a civil, non-religious ceremony can be permitted by the Superintendent Registrar. The content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Superintendent Registrar when you call to make your final arrangements.
Any rights of copyright for music, readings etc permitted at the ceremony are a matter for the couple and the holder of the approval.
