
British Citizenship Ceremonies
A Citizenship Ceremony is the final stage in granting British Citizenship to foreign nationals. The ceremony welcomes new citizens into the community and celebrates the significance of becoming a British Citizen. Leicestershire Citizenship Ceremonies last approximately 45 minutes and include:
- Introduction and welcome
- Address by local dignitary
- Swearing or affirming an oath and making a pledge of allegiance to the Queen
- Presentation of citizenship certificate and welcome pack
- Photographic opportunities
The ceremony must take place within three months of the invitation to attend a ceremony from the Home Office.

- Names of guests (up to 2 adults plus children)
- Photographic ID
- Original invitation from the Home Office
