Safety Testing of Babies Dummies

A Dummy Test

Introduction

Babies dummies must be safe. An unsafe product may cause injury or even death.
Manufacturers, retailers, consumers and enforcement authorities will be interested in the product safety testing service provided by Leicestershire Public Analyst Laboratory.

Regulations

The safety of products such as babies' dummies is controlled by the General Product Safety Regulations 1994. These Regulations provide a legal framework to ensure that a producer or distributor supplies a safe product.

Relevant Standards

The BS 5239, British Standard Specification for Babies' Dummies, documents the procedures to be used for testing and the standards to be achieved.
