Eight Gallant SoldiersThis photograph (accessioned as DE7752) taken outside Leicester’s Guildhall shortly after the end of the Great War, shows a much decorated group of local soldiers; all members of the Belgrave Working Men’s Club. The photograph had pride of place in the house of the one man dressed in civilian clothes, Private Mark Monaghan, who was twice awarded the Military Medal for gallantry during the 1914-18 War. The other soldiers are all identified on this excellent record eight brave Belgravians.
