From buses to trains and planes, the Transport, Engineering and Extractives Gallery showcases key developments in transport in Leicestershire and beyond.It also tells the story of mining in Leicestershire and how the area’s rich mineral deposits have been used to make everything from bricks to toothpaste! You can also see the development of engineering industries across Leicestershire.

Situated outside the rear of the museum Wild Water and Science Play are substantial interactive areas that exemplify the concept of learning about science through active play and discovery. Students can do everything from testing water wheels to experimenting with the properties of sound waves. (Please note Wild Water is closed during the winter)

These worksheets are aimed at Year 5 and 6 pupils and will lead participants on an interactive tour of the museum. Designed to link in with the KS2 curriculum, these worksheets promote numeracy skills in a hands-on environment.
These worksheets are free to download and use. They are a self-led activity which can be completed in and around the Museum. Please let us know if you plan to include the worksheets as part of your visit when you book. The Museum can provide clipboards, pencils and stopwatches by prior arrangement.
