Using Moving Objects displays

Moving Objects displays can be used in lots of different ways. They are a great way of attracting people’s interest and make stimulating talking points. The displays can be used for activities ranging from arts projects with children and young people to reminiscence sessions with the elderly. They also look great in public spaces.
Look in the 'displays available' section for more tips and learning aims for each of the displays.

Why not use a display for…

learning days, fun-days and open days

Why not base a competition around a display? The ‘Make a Match’ and ‘What a Waste?’ displays are already designed as quizzes.
Creative Work inspired by a Moving Objects display

inspiration for creative work

Use a display to inspire dance, music, poetry, sculpture, drama, mask making, collage, photography…

focal feature for events

Create a focus and provide inspiration for your community or celebration event. ‘Myth & Legends’ is ideal for storytelling events for example.

Stimulate debate on a particular issue or raise awareness of a community initiative through a display. ‘What a Waste?’ has been used as part of a school anti-litter campaign and local environmental awareness events.

family-learning and reminiscence work

The displays appeal to all ages by combining historic and contemporary artefacts which can be supplemented with handling objects from the Open Museum’s Resource Box Collection.
