Lots of Forum museums not only offer an interesting place to visit, but hold archives, oral history recordings and are an excellent starting point for researching your family history.
The Forum also provides help and advice and a support network for local museums.
You can also download the New Leicestershire Museums Guide (PDF), a guide to Museums in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.

Winners in 2006!
Each year, Leicestershire County Council hosts an event to celebrate the work of the smaller museums across the county and in Rutland.
Most of the smaller museums are run entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time to preserving their local heritage and creating learning opportunities for their local communities.
Entries for the Heritage Awards come from museums across the counties and city and winners are selected by a panel of judges.
