Hunting Collection

The Hunting CollectionThe symbol
of Leicestershire County Council, and Leicester City
Football Club, is the fox. Leicestershire is considered to be the birthplace of fox hunting as it is
known today and Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas have long-running associations with fox hunting. In
2005 Leicestershire County Council's Heritage Services were
awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to commence the "Foxhunting:
Past, Present, Future?" project. The project ran for one year from October 2005 with the aim to
record
the impact of the Hunting Ban (2004) from all points of view and discover and compliment other fox hunting
collections and resources. Building
upon the displays at Melton Carnegie Museum, information from this project has created an oral history
archive, educational resources, highlights of relevant collections and the Foxhunting
Voices website. Hunting Reference Library at the MuseumThe following titles are available for reference only at the museum: Catalogue
