School Visits - Bringing the Past to Life

Combined Visits with Bosworth Battlefield

Availability: Various dates, throughout the year.
Due to our close links and proximity to Bosworth Battlefield we have developed a number of packages which enables pupils to sample the best of both sites to get an overview of domestic and military life during Tudor Times. Pupils spend half a day (morning or afternoon) at each site.  Timetables and itineraries are supplied by us.

Life in Tudor Times

Education Level Key Stage 2
Activities
Look at the foundation of Tudor Times from two different viewpoints:
  • Pupils will travel back to 1491 to learn about Tudor life from two different viewpoints
  • At Donington pupils meet a member of the rich Digby family who support King Henry VII
  • At Bosworth pupils meet a member of the poor blacksmith’s family who remain loyal to the dead King Richard III

At Bosworth Battlefield

Option 1: Guided Walk

Education Level Key Stage 2
Activities experienced guides will be able to bring the events of the battlefield to life. The walk is just under 2km long across rolling countryside.
Students Maximum 80 pupils per day (up to 40 at each site at one time).
Cost £6 per pupil for both sites

Option 2: Meet a Soldier

Education Level Key Stage 2
Activities join a soldier in his camp with a display of armour, weapons and combat techniques. Pupils will become new recruits and take part in military drill.
Students Maximum 80 pupils per day (up to 40 at each site at one time).
Cost £7.50 per pupil for both sites
