Charnwood Writers

Charnwood Writers has been running for over twenty years. It was re-established in 1994, by Charnwood Arts, to provide support and encouragement for creative writers living and working in the Charnwood area.

Who are they?

  • Charnwood Writers is an informal friendly group of about ten regular members, who meet at Loughborough Library, Granby Street, Loughborough.

When do they meet?

  • Meetings are once a month, 6pm-8pm, third Tuesday of each month. There is no charge to attend.

What do they do?

  • Members share their work in progress; they read their work, and receive support, advice and criticism. Details of competitions, markets, etc, are circulated.
  • On occasion, workshops led by established writers and poets, are held. Well-known authors have come to give talks. Themed writing exercises are also held.
  • "Rhyme and Wine" is currently being run by Charnwood Writers, at the "Valkyries Wine Bar", Churchgate Mews, Loughborough, on the occasional Sunday evening.

Charnwood Arts

  • Association with Charnwood Arts enlarges the scope for writers to display and publish their work. The Charnwood Arts web site is:
