Your Library Blog

A place for book lovers to participate in online discussions about books, reading and our library services.

Reading Groups

Leicestershire Libraries supports readers at all levels, and with all interests.  We lend books to around 80 reading groups.  We have a Literature Officer, Kerry Featherstone, who selects books for the reading groups catalogue.  Kerry also supports new reading groups, organises events with authors, poetry readings and other literary events (see the Writing section below for Kerry's writing activities).
Shoot the Moon is a quarterly newsletter which details of all these activities, interviews, competitions and regional news for readers and writers. You can subscribe to the newsletter, free of charge, by sending your name and address to Kerry.  Alternatively, you can download it from this page:

Writing Groups

There are several writing groups around the county, each of which has its own characteristics and activities.  For a lot of writers, a writing group provides great support, a chance to pick up tips, share ideas and manuscripts...  In addition, our Literature Officer organises a series of poetry workshops, which result in an annual anthology.  There is an annual short story contest, writer development opportunities, anf you can help with Arts COuncil funding applications.  It's also easy to subscribe to EMIT; the regional newsletter of The Literature Network across the East Midlands, to get involved with region wide projects and opportunities for writers.
