Loan facilities

Improve your library and support the curriculum with books and other resources
  • choose them as part of your subscription
  • or simply pay for as many books as you require

Project collections support specific topics, strategies and the creative curriculum

  • 30 items in a collection
  • order in advance for selection by librarians
  • or select in person from LSE at Rothley Crossroads
  • loan period of 12 weeks, exchangeable by you within that time
We will deliver and collect.

Reading Group sets

To support school reading clubs and groups
  • one set of 10 fiction books per 100 pupils (Secondary schools)
  • one set of 10 fiction books per class (Primary and Special schools)
  • loan period 12 weeks
  • can be selected by your LSE librarian or yourself at Rothley Crossroads

Personal Membership

For all school staff (or otherwise connected to the education of children) in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland  (free to staff from schools with a subscription)
Borrow up to 6 items at a time for 6 weeks.

Professional advice and support

Professional advice can help you improve your library in many ways, including:
  • library organisation, including classification and library routines
  • stock work, including editing and assessing stock gaps
  • library reports, including recommendations for development
  • self-evaluation, policy development and action plans
  • library reorganisation
  • new libraries: layout, furniture and equipment advice
  • effective use of libraries and developing pupils' information handling skills
  • help with the appointment and recruitment of library staff
  • ICT advice
  • reader development
  • booktalking
Subscribing schools will receive some professional and practical help as part of the subscription,depending on the size of the school, with 25% discount on any additional advisory work required.

Secondary schools subscribing to LSE will give all their pupils and staff access to the following subscription databases, through a link on EMBC or other methods of the school's choice.

Leicestershire School Library Book Purchase Scheme

Any school within the Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland areas can now use our Book Purchase Scheme to order books of their choice through our supplier Askews and Holts. You will receive a discount on the r.r.p. of 27% on most mainstream library titles (please note that this will not include reading scheme or text book type materials). Please ensure that a completed form accompanies your order or you will not receive the discount. Delivery to your school will be through the LSE delivery network.
